Through an innovative way of holding batterer’s accountable and victims safe, Fatherhood Matters uses the Duluth Model of domestic abuse intervention – the most widely-adopted approach in the world. Conceptualizing abusive behaviors and tactics through a wheel of power and control, the Duluth Model helps facilitate father’s change through critical dialogue by challenging men’s entitlement to abuse and questioning beliefs that are held by men of themselves, their partners, and the world. Along with this exploration, fathers also explore and practice noncontrolling and nonviolent alternatives to interacting with their partners and others.
